Leg pain/breast pain - no obvious cause

  1. For the past few days and nights, I've had aching pain in my legs and, to a slightly lesser extent, in my back. Reminds me a bit of when I had a UTI a year ago but then I had all the symptoms - this time, it is really only the legs, and perhaps especially the things that are so sore. Went to GP today who asked me to bring a urine sample in on Monday and a gave me a prescription for antibiotics in case I get UTI symptoms. Other than that, she didn't suggest anything.

So, I was wondering if you can have a UTI without feeling sick, without cloudy urine and without pain in your abdomen?

  1. Also saw the GP as I've pain in right side of one of my breasts - quite sharp at times, dullish ache at other times. She examined and said she could feel a thickening of my lymph node on the painful side. She's referring me to a local breast clinic an urgent case. She said so little (in fact was really impassive and rather cold but ..) except that it could be hormonal (I'm past the menopause though). I've never been screened though now I'll wait for the clinic to see me. Rang the clinic who said that once they get the referral, I'll be seen within 10 days.

Either of these anyone's experience or anyone can shed some light? I'm naturally very worried .

Getting breasts checked with any pain or thickening is always wise, but rarely a real problem Smile

So your GP may be cold (I know one of those!) but did the right thing.

FWIW, I've had both leg and breast pain from back/postural problems...

Thanks, Elibean - I am wondering about sciatica. Symptoms would fit.

Yes, pain in legs could well be sciatica - but again, wise to get urine checked, won't hurt!

Good luck with the breast clinic - I do think postural/back stuff is worse, for me, post meno (which I am) but it's great to be getting checked. Let us know how you get on Smile

ps hormonal breast pain definitely carries on post-menopause for quite a long time - on and off. I'm probably 3-4 years past, and saw the breast surgeon for pain and thickening a few weeks ago, not for the first time. All fine, but was good to check (mammo and u/s).

Thanks, Elibean. I'm really pleased that you've had a clean bill of health and I think you're right - the checks are so important.
I'm seeing an osteo we know on Monday - described the symptoms to her and she was pretty sure it was sciatica which is treatable but so painful. The urine check can't hurt and that may or may not uncover anything else.

I am worried about the breast pain and what the GP said - perhaps I've spend too much time looking at the internet. Maybe time to trust the process but I have a tendency to think the worst. Will let you know how I get on. Thanks.
