I use to take centrum woman and decided to have a change. So I bought well woman, for sports woman( which I am not). I bought it because it says, for woman who feel tired all the time, which is me! So casually started comparing ingredients for centrum and well woman. So high contents of vitamins in well woman, some upto 400% RDA. How do I find out if its safe, would it cause overdosing some vitamins. Just a thought!

It looks absolutely safe.

About the only Vit that you can have too much of is Vit A - which isn't in that formula.

800% of B12 is nothing. My GP prescribed me 10,000%. Which I guess basically says the RDA for B12 is wrong.

It looks quite a good supplement actually.

OP, do you actually need vitamin supplements? Some do (e.g. other poster) but most people in normal health with a proper diet don't need supplements. All the excess vitamins just go down the toilet.

might be worth a check. If you are tired all the time you may have a medical problem, and supplements won't fix that. Or it could just be poor diet and too much to do.

Actually it's really, really hard to get all the vitamins you need from diet alone.

For example:

A hundred years ago, it was easy to get enough magnesium just by eating a variety of foods and drinking water. However, our modern soil is very depleted. This is due to modern farming methods which employ chemical fertilizer, and due to monocropping.

Most people are deficient in magnesium - which is contained in the supplement you linked to. Magnesium helps with loads of things but certainly with stress and sleep.

NHS, i.e. those qualified medical people, doesn't think that magnesium supplements are necessary, (same as most other supplements) and too much is harmful. 'too much' seems to be over 400mg a day, the OP's tabs contain 100mg so that should do no harm to health. Only wallet.

me, I'm off to the veg patch. Love summer!

Supplements are prescribed by loads of NHS professionals for loads of conditions.

The govt recommends supplements and gives them away free to certain groups of people.

Obviously the govt and NHS are going to recommend supplements in as few cases as they can get away with - because they cost.

But why should the OP settle for the minimum rather than the optimum?

I agree with Phoenix that we don't get enough vitamins and minerals due to our diet, processed foods, less fruit and fibre. So I think they are essential. £10 / month of vitamins is like saving for our pensions- healthy at that age- IMO Smile
