Today is the day for my dental impressions

I posted a few weeks ago about how scared I was of them. I've NC'd since then....

Well today is the day. I'm a little anxious right now but I wanted to thank all those who commented on my last thread 'Dental Impressions' as I went and chatted to my dentist and got answers to my questions. I will still be having sedation and I probably will cry again but I want the work done.

I am scared but feel that I CAN go even if I find it hard. Smile

Well done for facing your fears! Hope today goes smoothly (and quickly!). Breath through your nose and distract yourself by counting backwards in 3s or something. Oh, and ask to hold the nurse's hand - I've done that before now! Smile

Thank you MoreThanWords

I don't remember any of what I was like after the sedation but apparently i chat up a storm after they've finished and generally it's gobbledygook! Grin

Apparently the sedation should help with the gagging which is whats worrying me the most. I hope so.

Lol at the gabbling Smile Put it on You've Been Framed.

The anticipation is generally worse than the event; I sit shaking in the waiting room, and come out of the chair with my nail impressions in my hands, but the treatment is fine! I think dental work has advanced hugely over recent years, and especially treatment of nervous patients.

It has advanced over the years and you're right, the anticipation is far worse!

One time, I changed all my bed linen before one of my appointments. My friend accompanied me and brought me home again. Apparently I made a great show of telling her about my fresh clean sheets and weren't they lovely. She's never let me forget it Grin

Are you all done now? Has the gabbling begun? Wink Hope it was ok.

HerculePoirotsTache · 30/07/2013 18:59

Thank you again MorethanWords The appointment was late in the day so had time to get a bit worked up! But I've been and only woken in the last half hour. I can't remember a thing but my DH tells me it went absolutely fine and I was really chuffed afterward. Wish I could remember! Grin

I'm so glad that I have the dentist I have. She is brilliant with me and half the battle is knowing that your dentist cares isn't it? only one more appointment to go, in three weeks.

Ha ha! I have a text from my friend who has asked if I changed the sheets.

Hello - congratulations on doing the impressions!! I can really relate to the apprehension...Can I ask you whether you had them done at the normal dentist or at the hospital?
