with my foot and ankle. I kicked a metal post (the type that would hold up a parasol iyswim) earlier today.
The swelling is horrendous, Im feeling really sick, the pain is awful. the pain is radiating up my leg towards my knee.
I cant move my foot outwards without pain, and im on so many tablets already (from spd, pnd etc), I dont know what I can take. I have tried two bottles of wine though!!
What can I do?

ice pack, elevate, or alternatively go to casualty!

WigWamBam · 09/06/2006 20:32

Go to A&E - the sooner the better.

jofeb04 · 09/06/2006 20:33

Dont particuly want to go to a and e, mainly cause its a friday night, so it'll be packed with drunks!!

OP posts:
rosebea · 09/06/2006 20:35

you really should go, if you leave it till tomorrow they'll only tell you off.....have another bottle of wine and you'll fit right in! you can have fun with the drunks while you wait Grin

WigWamBam · 09/06/2006 20:36

You may not have any choice if you're in that much pain. You may well have broken something, in which case the earlier you are seen the better.

Go now, and you'll be there before the Friday night drunks get there.

DumbledoresGirl · 09/06/2006 20:38

If you really don't want to face casualty tonight (I would have thought you would be ok for drunks at this time of night) then follow the RICE procedure:
Rest the injured part
Ice pack around injury
Compress the injury by bandaging it firmly
Elevate the injured part.

moondog · 09/06/2006 20:39

What, you've drunk two bottles of wine! Shock
Am surprised you can type.
You will fit right in with the drunks.

Shit - go, now!

Is there an NHS walk in centre near you? That could be an alternative, I guess.

jofeb04 · 09/06/2006 20:42

Moondog, wine doesnt effect me really, been drinking it for years, but give me a couple of pints of larger, and Im done for!!

ok, dh has just rang, on his way home, and i'm going to go up to the a and e.

jofeb04 · 09/06/2006 20:43

Blimey,I'd be more worried about two bottles of wine having no effect than a gammy foot but hey, that's just me,right? Grin

FrannyandZooey · 09/06/2006 20:45

(tissy, I thought she might at least go to a walk-in centre, where they would make her go to A + E :))

LadySherlockofLGJ · 09/06/2006 20:46

Fio has had a tad more Rosé, than I have, nuff said. Grin

That has got to be a MN classic getting the hump with regard to a thread you hadn't even posted on.

moondog · 09/06/2006 20:46

Walk in?
Lurch in more like....

tissy · 09/06/2006 20:46

Wink they'll probably write "smells of alcohol" on the notes, which is shorthand for "don't believe a word she says"
