28 weeks pregnant - raised blood glucose levels

has anyone else had this crop up during pregnancy? My midwife took blood samples on Wednesday, one of which was to check blood glucose levels. My GP phoned today to say that the levels are higher than they should be, and I need to have more tests incase it's Gestational Diabetes. Should I be very worried?

I had GD with DS2 - don't worry too much, it's totally manageable if it is GD. Did you have a glucose tolerance test?

I'm going for the tolerance test next Thursday morning. I'm not so worried about that - I just think maybe my original blood test result was only slightly above normal, and so it might be a case of a bit too much dairy milk in the morning before my midwife appointment! I guess I just have to see how it goes. I'm already taking blood thinnning injections every day - I really wanted to avoid any further complications!

I had to go for a glucose tolerance because I had raised blood sugar. It involved being fasted, having a sugary drink and blood tests. The only problem with mine was that the only sugary drink they were using was lucozade. I'm allergic to caffeine so I had to have the equivalent in glucose powder (about 75g) in water. It was vile. I was fine and they put the raised levels down to post lunch testing. Don't worry about it.
