pain/discomfort after varicose vein removal

I had some (very bad) varicose veins removed just over a week ago. Some by ablation, others by stripping, all under local. I've just had the stitches out and have quite a lot of soreness....it particularly aches behind the knee. I just wondered if anyone else has had experience of this, and what helped. I'm expecting it to be like this for some time. I'm going to get some support tights now that the pressure bandage is off, although I don't much fancy them in this heat!

Have just made a doc appt for this problem-I need mine doing as the aching and pains in my legs is awful.Sorry I cant help with your question OP but were yours very bad,as in the aching legs etc ,before you had them done? And what was it like having them done etc? Also were the veins very prominent in your legs-Im trying to guage how bad they need to be before they need to be done-does that make any sense?
