I cant remember the last time my poo was poo shaped IYSWIM, its been months. It isnt diarrhea but it is always sloppy and is regular every day. I have a healthy diet but is this simething to be concerned about?

and as I'm already talking about it is is normal to get very sloppy poos just before your period

Ds2's poo is always 'sloppy' (he's 3) but he eats healthily etc. The other two have solid poo, as do I! Have often wondered if the sloppier poo is anything to worry about for ds2 so will watch with interest this smelly thread!

[scientist hat on]
If you have a healthy varied diet with lots of fruit and veg and whole grains, and are pooing regularly, in no pain, have no temp etc and are otherwise well in yourself then it's pretty safe to say the runny poos aren't a disease but a product of your normal gut flora.

It is possible to change your normal flora - live yogurt, probiotics, diets excluding wheat and/or dairy etc can all do this, and you may think any or all of these are worth a try if the runny poos are getting you down.

[science hat off - next bit is anecdotal only]

No idea why poo gets runny before a period, but my sister, and my mum and I all get this; also a huge increase in farting. Probably hormonal.

MrsB said everything I would have said, and more, and better.

Oh, except to note that slight diarrhea is better for you than slight constipation, I think. Constipation is linked to bowel cancer (as toxins in poo hang around longer). And constipation is more unpleasant, besides.

I've always been prone to this, rather than the other (constipation) and had v dodgy before labour started so def hormonal
