Blink-and-you-miss-it periods these days. Anyone else?

Apologies to those of you coping with heavy, painful periods - but mine have turned into the complete opposite.

Still regular, but have an hour or so of vague discomfort then about a day and half of bleeding.

Is this common with peri-menopause?

Crap, mine are a bit different now too, post-DS. I haven't given it much though so far as I don't want to.

If it is, you are very lucky.
DD had 4 months of none then 6 weeks of heavy etc
The first scan showed she had a cyst on one ovary, which did go away by itself in 6 weeks. But soon after her FSH went too high - perimenopause it was. Now on HRT. as she suffered very bad hot flushes day and night. Usually over 40 when it happens.

digerd, do you mean lucky or unlucky? I don't know much about any of this (perimenopause etc.). I'm only in my mid-30s. Do there tend to be changes to your periods after you've had a baby?

Unicorns

Definitely! Before I had my DS, my periods were all over the place - my cycle varied between 3 and 6 weeks. I also had crippling pain which would bring me out in a cold sweat.

After I had him (didn't b/f, so periods came back quite quickly) they settled immediately into a regimented 28 day cycle and remained that way ever since. I was quite astonished!

I'm not sure what happens, but pregnancy and birth does give your hormones a big shake up and it can change things for sure.

Same here, periods regular but last around 2 days with little bleeding and no discomfort. (as opposed to 5 days period pain and heavy bleeding)

I'm 46 and presume i'm going into menopause.

Will make an appointment with Gynae to verify.

(hoping that this means no more contraception and good times ahead....i may be naive!)

Edvard - are you having any other symptoms at all? I'm not - no hot flushes or anything at all.

Touch wood!

Been having hot flushes for past 5 years but have medication for something else that could have caused this.

Only real symptoms are period related (and a high sex drive, much to DH's delight!)

EdvardMonsterMunch · 21/07/2013 19:47

I do drink a hell of alot of water.

This has been for past 2 years, around 3 litres per day.

EdvardMonsterMunch · 21/07/2013 19:49

Are you hoping for menopause?

(I am, been there done that, the idea of having natural sex with no risk makes me want to cry tears of joy!)

EllieArroway · 21/07/2013 19:50

Oh - high sex drive! Yes!!!!

Think we're going through the same thing.....!

Think we should get confirmation and then suffer the consequences!!
