ds1 (10) has hayfever and his eyes have been a bit itchy. so, tonight i put a drop of opticrom in his eyes and he has just come dwnstairs to show me that inside the bottom rim of his eye it's gone really swelled. as he pulled it down the swelled part sort of popped out.
what should i do? Could it be a reaction to the drops and should i worry now???

Call NHS direct who will probably say take him to hospital....hope it goes down soon!

I get that swelling quite a bit although it has never really popped out as such. This is before I use eye drops though and eye drops normally sorts it out. Are you sure it hadn't started to swell up before the drops? Anyway, agree best to call NHS direct and double-check the leaflet in the eyedrops box.

he has fallen asleep with a cold cloth over it now, i don't know whether the hayfever caused it or the drops but do you think it's o.k to see how it looks by morning?
until you look inside the lower rim it just looks very bloodshot really.
aaaaaaaargh i hate anything to do with eyes and dh isn't here.
