Sticky Eyes

Oh goody. Ds has got snotty/sticky eyes again in combination with his cold. Doesn't seem to bother him much but want to help clear it up quickly (not being able to go to nursery next week is going to be a real pain) but without resorting to antibiotics.

Making a saline solution to bathe them in, but it's so long since he's last had it I've forgotten: is it 1 teaspoon of salt to a pint? How frequently should I bathe his eyes with it? Is there anything else I can do to speed its departure? How long is a "typical" clear up time (i.e. what's my percentage chance of getting my nursery "time off" Tuesday )

dd always gets this with a cold and the poor love has unfeasably long eyelashes so they always stick together quite badly.

I don't put anything on her eyes, just clean them out with a clean flannel. It usually lasts a couple of days - ocassionally longer but on the later days it appears in the morning and goes away for the rest of the day (so nursery never know about it. But dd's nursery don't mind anyway). No idea about the salt thing.
