Swollen feet and ankles - should I be worried?

Gave birth to dd just over 6 weeks ago and for the last few days my ankles and feet have been swollen and my lower legs sore.
Is this something to worry about? Does anyone have any idea what it could be please?

Could just be the hot weather combined with changed habits with new dd for example if you are sitting loads more to breastfeed or have had to stop exercising. I'd see the GP, but maybe try to get your feet above your hips a few times a day and do foot and ankle wiggles a lot while you are waiting for an appointment. Posh medical term is oedema.

Thank you purplewithred
I'm seeing my doctor on in Monday. I walked about 2 miles today and it seemed to help. I've been doing quite a lot and I plan to rest this weekend.Smile

When resting try to put your feet up. Mine always swell in the hot weather, especially if sitting for a long time. In the mornings after lying in bed, they are back to normal < and after my hour's kip in bed in the aternoonsBlush>. Keeping moving helps the circulation too.

Oh, just remembered. It used to happen walking in strappy shoes too in the heat. The swollen bits protruded through the gaps in the straps.
