What might be so bad that a heamatology nurse is ringing me to try and find out where my dad is?

She says she needs to speak to him urgently. He's not at home and his mobile is switched off.

Might be that his white blood cells are low ( neutropenia) - in which case he may need to be admitted? Hope you manage to get hold of him and that it is sorted quickly .

Most likely is deranged blood results. Either neutropenia, low platelets, or something like that.

Thanks, got hold of him. They want him to go in tomorrow to have a PIC line fitted and start some chemo in preparation for a stem cell transplant. Which he's been waiting for for a bit.
