As this has happened to my mum. She is off to clinic next week, but just wondered if anyone had any experiences they could share?

I wish I could be reassuring Flossam, but it hasn't happened to me. It is important that she gets it checked, as I'm sure you know. I hope she gets some reassurance.

Flossam · 06/06/2006 20:56

She's not worried! And I know I probably shouldn't be. But I am!

flossam, I would be a bit worried too. I really hope it is just a harmless symptom, or it has been caused by a localised infection. Keep me posted and am sending you and your mum hugs and posative vibes.

Flossam · 07/06/2006 09:54

Thanks CM. I'm really close to my mum, but her not worrying about it at all is worrying me iyswim. Wish she would be a bit more concerned if that makes any sense at all?

Just bumping just in case! Surely someone on here must have had this?

Ok, so perhaps the reason you all stayed quiet is because you suspected it might be bad news. Mum is having an op ASAP. I feel like I am in limbo. She is still working, I am still working, although going down this weekend. The logical part of me says all will be fine, people survive much worse, I see it every day. But this is my mum and I am gutted. SadSad

Oh god Flossam I'm so sorry for your mum.
My friend phoned me 3 weeks ago to ask if there could be a relatively simple explanation as to why her nipple suddenly became inverted...and also started weaping! She went to the Doc and they referred her to a specialist. But she has delayed the appointment by another week as she's going on hols tomorrow. Hope its a simple explanation for your mum and my friend.

Flossam · 14/06/2006 22:37

Thanks TA. They have found some kind of mass and think it is likely to be cancerous, so just need to wait for op to find out for definate.

Flossam this exact thing happend to my friend mum, her age is makes the outcome more posative for her as she has lower levels of oestrogen post menopause??
My friend mum had exactly the same symptoms had a mastectomy found to have clear lymph nodes, started tamoxifen and has ben clear ever since. She is very healthy now. She delt with it so well at the time and then grieved after.
Am so sorry the news was not better floss. am thinking of you.

sorry you and your mum are going through this stressful time flossam. My mum had breast cancer a few years ago and is fine now. There is so much they can do for breast cancer now and it is so hopeful.I know this probably doesn't make it any easier for you.
I've just had to go through 2 mammograms and needle biopsy and luckily had the all clear but it was seriously stressful.Trying to stay busy helped but it was hard.I hope your mum gets brilliant care and will be thinking of you .
There are some good breast cancer websites with very supportive discussion boards that may help.

Flossam · 14/06/2006 22:54

Thank you. I know that outcomes are really good now. I just want my mum around for the longest possible time, she eats so healthily and lives so sensibly, I hoped she would have a clean bill of health for many years.
