Any ideas WTF is going on with me - Day 12 of heavy bleeding while on HRT

I've been on HRT for a year, but hadn't ever actually stopped my periods. Am 47.

Normally I take the HRT for 21 days, have a 7 day break during which I have a shortish, lightish bleed, everything's good.

This time the period started 2 days later than usual, and is way, way heavier than usual. Last week there was a bit of a "gush" moment and there's been a lot of clotting. I'm now on Day 12 and there's still a lot of pain/cramping - am in a bit of a state.

The GP seems at a loss - her only explanation is that it's a miscarriage BUT DH had a vasectomy 9 years ago and we're not exactly at it like rabbits these days - plus, I'm perimenopausal enough that HRT was prescribed, IYSWIM. I've been given mefanamic acid and told to come back if it doesn't stop "soon" - but I've just had enough of this.

If anyone has any ideas I'd be very grateful.

Hopeful bump because I now have that Leona Lewis "Keep Bleeding" song in my head and it's not good. The likelihood that it's a miscarriage has to be tiny, right?

It is improbable that you are having a miscarriage at 47 but not impossible. But that DH had a vasectomy even more unlikely.

I had no problem with HRT, but DD had an early perimenopause, and and did. She changed the type many times until she found one that suited her.

Thanks - yes, bloody unlikely it's a miscarriage. More likely that I'll be hit by lightening twice.
GP didn't mention changing the HRT and it didn't occur to me - if things don't resolve themselves I'll mention it, so thank you.

DD always sees her gyny but has private medical insurance paid for by her employer.
My HRT was like yours, 3 weeks then a week of bleeding. when there was no bleeding, I was through the menopause my gyny said.
DD's is different and she is not supposed to have bleeding at allConfused. But recently had bleeding so saw her gyny again. Been put on another HRT . She doesn't discuss it with me much as I keep saying she is supposed to bleed once a month as I did Blush.
