Minor burn on finger - what to do?

FreshWest · 10/07/2013 11:57

I was cooking yesterday evening and some oil from the pan skitted on to my finger. I ran it under the cold tap and used a burn spray but it has come up in a little blister.
At a loss what to do now. Will it go on its own......eventually? Or is there something I should to do help?

If the skin is not broken try some toothpaste on it.
I thought my MIL had finally lost it when she got me to do this, but it really helped take away the burning feeling.

Leave it. It will be fine.

usualsuspect · 10/07/2013 12:02

Just leave it,it will get better on its own

Savlon have a burn cream that is very good, if you need something.

If it's manageable, though, I'd leave it alone.

No it doesn't hurt at all. I'll leave it then, see what happens to it.
Thanks!

You may find the blister bursts, in which case keep it clean.

FreshWest · 10/07/2013 12:10

Yes, if the blister bursts I understand that infection may be a problem. Plasters and antiseptic all the way in that case!

I have had so many minor burns I'm rather embarrassed :)

I think the blister has often burst as they are always in vulnerable places - hence why they got burnt in the first place! I've never had any kind of infection set in, thankfully.

Keep an eye on it, and if it bursts keep it dry I recently had a badish burn on my hand and finally got the bandages off today after three weeks. They have advised me not to soak my hand and to keep putting Vaseline on it.

Well it's burst so I've put savlon on it and covered it in a plaster. Sad
