Please does anyone have a picture or can link me to something that shows what a measels rash looks like. I have tried to google but cant see any pictures.
All the symptoms are very similar on my 11 month old.
I vaguely remember when my dd1 had a reaction to her MMR she had a measels type rash that looked a bit like the one the baby has.
Baby has been really screamy for a week but seemed better today but has slept for most of it.
Yesterday G.P said "teething " when I took her concerned about her high temp he said that was normal for teething.
Tonight she looks a bit grey and has a browny red rash all over her trunk, neck and ears.
Its not the start of an exzema outbreak....
I don't want to alarm anyone but will need to let pregnant friends know obviousely!!!

In your stress, you are misspelling measles.

Google measles rash picture

I would contact a doctor/nhs direct.

how do you do the link thing?

Miaou · 04/06/2006 19:36

I think the diplomacy award goes to ggg, not me! Grin

Hope it's not measles though, poor you (and dd)

giddy1 · 04/06/2006 19:48

Thankyou all again.
It is nowhere near as bad as the pictures I've seen on those links. Bless those poor childrenSad
Her rash looks like the later stage rash of measles so I guess it is just a viral rash.
I am going to keep an eye though and see g.p in the morning.
He makes me feel like I have that Munch something by proxy syndrome Blush
(you know what I mean!!!)

check its not rubella giddy1- that can look like a mild dose of measles (kind of like heat rash). Obviously you need to stay in if it is, that's all.

My DS had measles and I think you would be in little doubt. Extremely high temp that wouldn't budge and was delerious. The rash was the least of it. He used to walk about saying 'Where's
(say his own name)' He wouldn't eat or drink anything for days and I had to use a syringe to inject water into his mouth. I think this is fairly common reaction.

Piffle · 04/06/2006 20:25

my dd had measles at 13 mths, very very ill, seriously high high temp, cough, conjunctivis, no appetite, slept 24/7 for 8 days
rash on day 6.

giddy1 · 04/06/2006 20:28

drosophila
How horrible for your little boy.Poor little mite.
My dd has been suffering with a very high temp and was needing calpol and brufen to bring it down, off her food, really sore looking eyes ,runny nose etc.
At first I thought teething, then hey fever but when the temp developed I took her to g.p incase she had an ear infection or something.
He is just so bloody laid back and I feel like he is huffing about another wasted g.p appointment.
Actually Jimjams I am certain that it looks like the rubella rash and will check it out tomorrow. Thanks I didn't really know about that.
Now I don't know what to do about DD1 . She is autistic and has Igg2 deficiency (immune deficiency)She gets regular jabs from the immunologist so I presume she is fully covered but don't know for sure. Probably too late anyway isn't it.
I will need to have a chat to HV tomorrow morning
