Itchy scalp - build up of skin?

My hair and scalp haven't been the same since I was pregnant with DD (18months).

Last year, I noticed that I was getting a thick build up of skin in patches of my scalp, which flakes off. It's white and seems to seap a bit when I (inevitably) fail to leave it alone.

I switched to SLS-free organic shampoo and conditioner ages ago because my hair seemed so greasy; I'm now managing to wash every 2-3 days instead of daily, but my hair has totally lost its sheen and is brittle. I'm only 29 so am hoping it's not age related!

I lost a lot of hair after DD was born (for months) and the bits growing back around my hairline are 2-3 inches long (my hair grows slowly).

What can I do? Hmm

Hair loss after childbirth is normal and it will take quite a while to grow back fully. It is worrying at the time though - I remember seeing the plughole in the shower and thinking what a lot there was.

Have you tried head and shoulders itchy scalp shampoo? It deals with the itching and the skin build-up but is fairly gentle. I also find it leaves my hair quite shiny. You should see an improvement in a few days.

Good luck.

Thanks monikar- I used to use it but found it quite harsh, even the sensitive one. Vosene was ok for a bit.

I'm ideally hoping for a gentler approach!
