Got pain at the base of my sternum, what could it be?

I have a tender lump at the base of my sternum and have an appointment at the 'Lumps and Bumps' clinic next week. I have tried googling but found nothing that seems to fit. Anyone else had this?
I am such a drama queen when ill.

Could be gallbladder stones. That's where mine were. If you start to feel you are giving birth through your chest, it's gallbladder!

What a pleasant thought apatchylass :) I have a hernia but that is on the right side not in the middle unless it has escaped and moved across. I will have to wait and see. Thanks for replying :)
