Strange smells and tastes after having flu months ago

Approx 4 months ago I had flu, and since then i have had tonsilitis three times,l was treated with antibiotics. My throat is feeling much better now, but I am now getting s strange smell in my nose, and taste. Things that smell really bad are fabric conditioner, soap powder, perfume and my deoderant smells like vinegar!

Most foods taste okay apart from coffee and sometimes chocolate. My nose also randomly runs when I'm eating, but I don't get any sinus pain.

It is now driving me crazy, I do have a GP app next week, but I'm wondering If I will ever smell anything normally ever again. Has anyone else suffered with a crazy sense of smell?

Well, I am not going totally crazy. I am unable to eat or drink because of the smell/taste. It is like mould, Have been Goggling which I know I shouldn't and have terrified myself silly, could I have fungal sinusitis? Really hope someone might have experienced something like this before? Gp app tomorrow, thank goodness. Please help

I had something similar decades ago after 'flu. It made certain things (like milk) taste and smell disgusting! It did get better. More recently I have had difficulties related to sinusitis and nasal polyps, but that tends to give loss of sense of smell and taste therefore different. Hope the GP can help or at least give reassurance.

Thanks for your reply Magso. I did originally start off having loss of smell/taste and just left it, thinking that it would greadually come back. Unfortunately when it did, everything began smelling so revolting. Counting the hours until my appointment!
