Hi All

Would be very greatful for your opinions on this!

I have always had a bang on 28day cycle over the last year I have noticed that this is not the case anymore it seems to be more like a 20day cycle.

I have always had what I would call heavy painful periods. I get a lot of bloating etc. But no mood swings. Over the last year they seem to have got more painful but still about as heavy.

Anyway Period started on the 2nd and finished on the 9th

DH and I were intimate on the 11th I was a little painful at the time (TMI aleart DH was going in quite deep) he stopped that and the pain stopped.

Ok so on the 13th I started with a bloody discharge (very light pink) and by the 15th I was full on bleeding the blood seemed very red at the time and more blood like and less period like by the 17th it was getting more period like and is still going on and is definatly what I would call period blood.

I´m bleeding quite heavily but NOT as heavy as a normal period. I have NO craping or pain of any sort.

I have checked and I don´t have a tempreture, I don´t feel ill or anything

I was concerned originally that maybe I had a small tear or something but since it has become a normal period I am not worried about that now. BUT I am a little concerned as this is NOT normal for me and I´m only in my early 30´s.

I´ve checked with my Mum who said she had nothing like this. But my Maternal grandmother did have lots of "womens problems" (helpful mum)

Can someone give me any idea if this should be looked into? or What might be going on?

Sadly not, but you know you need to see a gp, right?
It may be many things...it could be the peri menopause, an infection...
Are you up to date with your smears?
Any bleeding between periods needs checking. I hAd this a few years ago and they never found a cause.
Good luck x

Badvoc

I've booked an appointment with my gynocologist but he's away until the end of next month

Last smear was 5 years ago

Don't see how it can be an infection as I have no pain or temp

I checked google which seemed to suggest I only needed to go to the docs if it has been going on for 3 months or more or if I was losing a lot of blood. According to the n h s website

It's just worrying me a bit but I don't really know why it's worrying me iyswim?

Changes to the menstrual cycle should always be further investigated.

Endometriosis can cause heavy and painful periods to arise. Pain during sex is also an indicator of endometriosis as well.

Your GP should refer you to a gynae as a matter of course for further evaluation. In the meantime I would keep a daily pain and symptom diary. Any pain that is cyclical in nature and gets worse up to and including menses should be checked out further.

You will need to be persistent in order to get answers.

Good luck.

Can you see someone else earlier?.

inneedofrain · 21/06/2013 21:25

Attila

Thanks for that I have wondered about endrometosis (sp) for while

I can't see another gynocologist earlier (I promise there is a very good reason for this but I can't discuss on public forum)

I could possible go and see a private g p my public one is a 2 week wait and given i know her pretty well she will more than likely say well let's wait for the gynocologist

I'm not lossing enough blood to affect my iron levels or make me woozy so there is no chance of an urgent appointment with gp

I would wait to see this gynae you speak of and ask this person outright about endometriosis.

Do keep a pain and symptom diary in the meantime.

Would not bother with GP unless you feel any need to see such a person as endo (if it is there) is outside a GPs general remit anyway.

Do let me know how you get on.

Thanks, I will ask him I promise. Actually I had what I think was something incredibly odd when DD was born and I wonder if that is something to do with Endometriosis as well.

Its been bugging me for years now. But I have never thought to ask about it really!

I´ll update when I have seen the gyno
