Gall Stones any diet tips???

MIL is in hospital waiting for treatment and I was wondering if anybody had tips on what foods to avoid.

She knows all about going for low fat options but is discovering things like grapes set her off but apples are fine. She is Sad to discover that even the smallest amount of chocolate gives her lots of pain and nausea.

Any ideas for foody treats I can take in, she can only eat a bit of her meals at a time and gets hungry in between, plus the hospital food is pretty boring and bland.

TIA

Thanks for the tips, I tried searching online but got lots of stuff about flushing out with things like olive oil Shock. Just want to know what won't aggravate it.

Had a look it all seems to be about low fat diets in general, which we know. Thanks anyway

i have gallstones, having my operation in two weeks, i have waited a year for this so i know how it feels not being able to eat anything nice.

i have jelly sweets, ie - fruit pastells or star mix, marshmellows are also good 0 none of these have any fat.

sainsburys do a be good to yoursellf range of food i have the pretsels and crisp things 0.6 grams of fat per bag which are fine and wont give you any pain.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the tips about sweets, I will find out her favourites, she normaly has a bit of chocolate if she is going for something sweet but I am sure she must like jelly babies or something. Pretzels are a good idea as she likes crisps too much and will need a replacement Grin.
