Help!

He's been under the weather with a (very) mild temperature and just general snottiness since Sunday. This evening I noticed 6 or 7 red spots, not raised or fluid filled, just little pimples. He's not itching them.

I'm 27 weeks pregnant, I have had chicken pox as a child - do I need to worry?

Was going to go ask the DR for an immunity test but I think it may be a bit late for that as I DS does have it I've obviously been very exposed, and at the most contagious time.

All the information I can find is conflicting and contradicts itself. Does anyone here have proper knowledge of how at risk my unborn baby is?

You are fine if you've had chicken pox already

ilovepowerhoop · 18/06/2013 21:08

What are the risks of chickenpox during pregnancy?

What should I do if I'm pregnant and I've been near someone with chickenpox?

Seems to only be a risk if you havent had chicken pox before

If you have had chicken pox then there's no need to worry.

Do stock up on piriton, calamine aqueous cream, and oats (to go in old tights in the bath - very soothing).

Ahh thank you all, that's reassuring! I had seen somewhere that not everyone gets immunity - but I suspect that's rather rare.

Thank you, iwishiweremoreorganised. That's very handy to know.

Could it be hand, foot and mouth instead? As c pox is vesicles filled with fluid. HFAM is doing the rounds where I live at the mo.
Where are the spots?
As an aside, HFAM is fine if you get it when pregnant too

LadyFlumpalot · 18/06/2013 21:24

The spots are on his stomach, a few on his neck, along his nappy line and on his side.

It has been VERY hot today so I'm also not ruling out heat irritation.

Ds chicken pox started out as two pimply spots on his leg. They didn't blister for days so wasn't aware he had chickenpox until he got two more spots that were blistered underneath his armpits. So it might still be chickenpox.

Neither of our ds's spots blisters straight away when they had chicken pox. You'll know for sure if it is by the morning OP.
