Fluttery crunchy feeling in my chest - tell me all the totally harmless things it could be.

Lasted about two hours now.

Every couple of minutes, in the centre of my chest it feels like a teeny tiny motor starting up. Sort of fluttery and crunchy all at the same time - maybe like squeezing a small bag of gravel.

No pain. No illness. Have I got internal hiccups? Is there a muscle there that's gone into spasm. Sometimes an eyebrow or a leg muscle twitch like that. But 2 hours!

Hoping by posting about it, I've called its bluff and it will go away.

You may be having PVCs (premature ventricular contractions). It's a generally benign heart arrhythmia which can feel like a fluttering in the chest, or a missed heart beat, or your heart flipping over.

Try taking your pulse when it's happening (if it recurs), it will feel like you miss a beat as you feel the flutter. See your gp if worried, they will likely organise an ECG. But it is not likely to cause problems in a healthy adult.
