Hi,

Just need a bit of support at the mo I've been on Lustral 50mg for about 4/5 months as was doing really well until a few weeks ago. I went to the doc's yesterday and she has up'd my dose to 100mg. She said just for a couple of months to get my thru the winter and then I can got back down. The thing is I was hoping to start coming off them at the end of March and now I seen to be going the wrong way. I have had a few family things to deal with which could result in the dip but I've woken up feeling really fed up about it all this morning.

Sorry just had to get it off my chest.
Thanks

Its a good sign that you want to come off of them it is POSITIVE. Are you having any complimentry therpay to help also?? I have started hypnotherpay to reduce chances of a relapse when coming off them part way through the year I HOPE!

Hi Melsy,

I've actually just booked to have some Aromatherapy in a couple of weeks which I'm really looking forward to. I think the problem is I had a game plan to work to and now that's changed. How is the Hypnotherapy?

Just thought I'd creep onto this thread and remind you that homeopathic remedies really helped me. I was never prescribed AD's coz I didn't go to my GP until the depression had started to ease a bit, but my GP recommended homeopathic rememdies. Another MNtter used the same one to help get off AD's after failing to twice. I think that's nearly a year now since she finally stopped taking them and tried the homeopathic route..... she was ready to come off them though.
You should have a read into it. It's not for everyone, but it helped me gain control and gave me a little crutch to lean on. Good luck to both of you.... depression is so awful, I hope things start to get better soon.

"Best laid plans of mice and men "!!!

The aromatherapy will be FANTASTIC , I had one last week. I slept soooo good for first time in ages. Look forward to that it will make you feel better.

Hypno, not sure yet , but the first one was helpful. I have a long way to go. You can read about it on here if you are interested. Sorry hope that isnt an intrusion to your post. Sometimes it helps to read other peoples experiences. I have another session on Friday so I will post about it.

I'm really looking forward to the Aromatherapy. The lady I spoke to seems really nice and so positive which is just what I need right now. I just want to feel well again. Unfortunately my PND didn't get diagnosed until my ds was 18 months. I get very physical symtoms so was always told it was other things. It was only when I refused to get out of bed oneday I was whisked off the the dr's by my family. It makes me go cold to think back to last summer - I don't EVER want to feel like that again.
Still to the future and a nice masage to look forwad to

Thanks for the support.

Hello teabag, we are in this afternoon if you want to pop round (waiting in for alarm to be serviced).

kizzie · 04/02/2004 13:36

Teabag - sorry you're feeling so down about having the dose upped. Try to think of it as just a short term thing to help you through the winter and then after that you can go back to plan a and start withdrawing when you feel ready.
Ive always found since having PND that setting my self time schedules for getting off medication a waste of time because it just means that you feel so disappointed if it doesnt happen.
Hope the higher dose helps.

M2T
Hope you dont mind me asking a bit more about the homeopathy.
I had PND and took seroxat. Unfortunately after getting better Ive been trying to come off the seroxat for more than 2 years but have had bad problems with withdrawal. I have now swapped to prozac try and make withdrawal easier but (there's always a but isnt there) the prozac makes me more anxious so im thinking of seeing a homeopath to a/ help with the withdrawal and b/ help with anxiety.

I just wondered if you would mind sending me the details of your homeopath in case they are near to me?

Thanks Kizzie. It's always hard to think rationally when your feeling low.
Hopefully the higher dose will sort me out and the homeopathy.

Kizzie - I never went to see a homeopath unfortunately. My GP recommended a treatment called Sepia. I started taking it and I felt MUCH better.... don't know why and I don't care why, but it worked.
That isn't to say that this particular one is for you. It may have been potluck that it suited me perfectly.

There is a thread from wayyyyyy back that has a Mumsnetter posting details about this. She is training as a Homeopath. I think it might have been JimJams..... or maybe Batters??? Oh that's going to bug me that I can't remember!! I'll have a look for you.

I swear by it and I recommended it to another Mumsnetter. She had tried twice to come of AD's, but after a few weeks would feel she needed them again. Sepia just gave her that extra strength to combat it. And it worked.

Good luck! I really hope and believe it can work wonders.

melsy · 05/02/2004 08:41

Teabag and all, I have been looking in homeopathic remedies for the last couple of weeks. It seems it is hard to self medicate(withought a trained homeopath) as there are so many nuances to a persons situation.I have found it hard to recognise in myself what I need. I have found this info here .

My friend is seeing someone in the Watford area , may be I can get her details. Or I will see if there is a registered homeopath list somewere on the web.

melsy · 05/02/2004 08:44

The previous link is for depression this one here is for anxiety.

kizzie · 05/02/2004 11:26

Hi - thanks M2T for all the info.
Ive had a look on the internet and found a registered homeopath close to me so I think Im going to make an appointment.
Will definately mention the sepia and see what else she suggests.
Will post back if I get any other info from her that might help others.
How are you today Melsy?

Kizziex
