.........do they give any pain releif?

DS has very purple big toe nail as a result of it being squashed. The nurse at the walk in center said she could put a needle through to relieve pressure, but DS was adamant he didn't want her to. The nurse said to come back at anytime if he changed his mind.

Last night he had trouble sleeping because of the pain, and at midnight he was sobbing. He's been OKish today, but wants to know if he will have any pain relief before they put the needle in. I'm thinking relieving the pressure is the pain relief.

Ok, just that big toes are treated differently to smaller toes if broken as big toes v important for balance etc. Bone is also bigger so takes longer to heal.

Good opportunity for some male bonding anyway.

(the hole-drilling procedure is called trephining, btw - he might be interested to know that)

Dr thought it is infected already, so antibiotics prescribed.
