Swollen, itchy sore sole of foot

It started today. The centre of my foot just under the ball feels hot and tender and is very itchy. When I walk on it it feels like there is a ball inside my foot. Any ideas as to what this is. Dr Google suggests cellulitis? I suppose I should go to the doctor?

Thank so much for your response Footle. I definitely haven't stood on a bee or anything. It is actually swollen and this is starting in the heel too

I saw my GP and he thinks its a foot infection - although is stumped by the cause as there is no sign of injury. I have got antibiotics for 10 days
