I have been taken a lot of pain killers for my back over the past few weeks and it has made me bunged up :( I feel fat and bloated but don't want to take any medication to make me go ( would rather do it through diet ), have tried eating rhubarb ( as it usually works ) but it didn't work, what else can I try. What makes you go?

Prune juice

Sugar. If I drink tea it goes through me

Virgil · 04/06/2013 18:23

lots of garlic

or excessive alcohol

Picoo · 04/06/2013 18:24

ilovepowerhoop · 04/06/2013 18:25

PiHigh · 04/06/2013 18:26

Lots of coffee.

PoppyWearer · 04/06/2013 18:26

Shredded wheat.

Or lots of alcohol!

noisytoys · 04/06/2013 18:26

Pic n mix and haribo. No idea why bit it does every time

FluffyDucky · 04/06/2013 18:27

Bran flakes but it can take a day or two.
And fresh brewed coffee (like from costa or starbucks)
Good luck!

SPsCliffingAllOverMN · 04/06/2013 18:27

Beer too!

I get bad beer 'bum' the morning after drinking it

Marne · 04/06/2013 18:35

I like the idea of the alcohol Grin

Can't drink coffee, although it would make me too it also makes me quite ill.

I think I will try something spicy and some alcohol.

Beetroot. Coffee. Rhubarb

MegBusset · 04/06/2013 18:40

Strong coffee and a fag always used to do the trick

These days, going for a long run seems to have the same effect!

Virgil · 04/06/2013 18:41

If you do lots of beetroot it will probably come out purple too!!

MysteriousHamster · 04/06/2013 18:42

Coffee (I know it doesn't work for you). One cup is all I need! Never noticed it with food stuffs particularly.

But I'd give my son non-bananary fruit and orange juice if he was bunged up.

sparkle12mar08 · 04/06/2013 18:43

Dried prunes, six of them twice a day for three days should sort you out. But you must drink lots of water as well, at least four half pint glasses every day. Excess fibre needs lots of water to make it passable!

plonko · 04/06/2013 18:45

Just lots of veg and water with little to no carbs. And a really strong coffee.

VisualiseAHorse · 04/06/2013 18:50

Dried apricots.
Prune juice.

Or, my favourite method - make a cuppa (tea or coffee), let it go lukewarm, sit on the loo and down it in one go. Don't know why, but it worked great when I was trying to poo whilst in labour!

binger · 04/06/2013 18:54

Wine gums or haribo for some strange reason.

FoundAChopinLizt · 04/06/2013 19:06

Spinach lots of.

Porridge every morning with strong coffee.

Fairylea · 04/06/2013 19:08

Dark chocolate, prunes and rich cream!

Callofthefishwife · 04/06/2013 19:12

Nothing. ABsolutely nothing makes me poop Sad except the medication I am on.

On a funnier the note, I will never forget the look of disbelief on the hospital Drs face after the 2nd dose of picolax failed to make anything move.

Constipation is the one thing I do well at in life!! Hmm

bluecarrot · 04/06/2013 19:16

Proper coffee. Or a McDonald's or other similar food place. Or fresh fruit juice with plenty of oranges in it.

Dahlialover · 04/06/2013 19:19

2 Kiwi fruit a day
half a bag of prunes
apricots, figs
pulses, lentils
bran, muesli, porridge oats with all bran and plenty milk and dried fruit
coffee (stimulates smooth muscle)
homemade wholemeal bread
fruit juice

failing that, Movicol would be my medication of choice. If you are just bunged up at the bottom end, glycerine suppositories are brill. Grin

BellaBearisWideAwake · 04/06/2013 19:20

Linseed

HowlerMonkey · 04/06/2013 19:22

Coffee, Weetabix, prunes. Chilli/curry also work but mostly in terms of driving out whatever has bunged me up, so that can be rather painful!

Maybe try prunes and THEN a curry....

Oh and lots of water too.
