hair loss and bald patches

Today I was putting my hair up in a ponytail and felt a bald spot on the back of my head. I asked my dd and dh to have a look and I do indeed have a bit about the size of a 10p that is bald. It's not painful at all but I have noticed a lot of hair falling out recently.
This has happened before a few years ago where I had a really large bald spot at the back and another one on top of my head. I put this down to stress at the time.

I have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia and not sure if this is a known symptom of this or it's a symptom of something else.

Sounds like it could be alopecia areata. It seems to be just something that happens, possibly stress related.

Meant to say, DH has it at the moment. He went to the gp about it but hair was already growing back so they just kinda shrugged.

yes last time the hair just grew back and I had a stupid short bit at the top of my head that used to stick up!
