Hairy legs - suggestions on defuzzing

Don't laugh - but what is the best way of de-fuzzing ones hairy legs. Last year I tried waxing (well if you can give birth you can cope with the pain), lovely legs but when the hairs started growing back it was under the skin causing itchy bumps. So ladies what's the best method ??

Dollhouse the reddness should be gone by tomorrow. It will deffinetly be gone by the time you get to the party.
Best to have applied some special lotion after waxing (an astringet, sterilising, calming type, failing that a bit of aloe vera gel just to calm the area).
Enjoy the party!

yep enid. it's great, isn't it?!

daisy1999 · 03/09/2004 22:11

lawn mower

MrsDoolittle · 03/09/2004 22:18

I wondered about the buffer thingy. Boots staff told me they can never have enough of them. Noone I know has one, so who does??

Branster · 03/09/2004 22:24

i have one just because it cost 99p (if you're reffering to the round thing that looks like fine sanding paper) and i'm not impressed with it, maybe i don't have the patience to use it properly...bought it from a chemist shop.

blossomhill · 03/09/2004 22:26

Tried the sand paper thing years ago, wasn't impressed!

MrsDoolittle · 03/09/2004 22:31

Branstar, the thing I was looking at cost 40 quid!!

lou33 · 03/09/2004 22:33

I bought bikini wax strips today for the first time. Am I mad? I told dh he will have to do it, in case I chicken out and don't do it quickly enough!

MrsDoolittle · 03/09/2004 22:36

I am afraid I am far too chicken. My very first experience with waxing was the stupid idea that it would be nice to wax my bikini line for the summer!!! Haven't been near wax since.

blossomhill · 03/09/2004 22:38

lou - I tried those bikin line wax strips and nothing happened!!!! I was preparing myself for lots of oain and then when I yanked the strip off there weren't any hairs there?
I love having my eyebrows waxed, always looks good. Must have them done again soon!

blossomhill · 03/09/2004 22:39

oops must preview - bikini and pain

MrsDoolittle · 03/09/2004 22:40

I lied. I do have my eyebrows waxed! And your right, it does look good. I have them tinted too as otherwise you can't see them!

blossomhill · 03/09/2004 22:42

I have mine waxed now and again but I hate having to let them grow. So I pluck them most days but can never get them both the same. When you have them waxed they are identically shaped.

highlander · 03/09/2004 23:05

top tip enid

I use DH's shaving gel and I hate the way my legs smell a bit of after shave afterwards!

linnet · 03/09/2004 23:11

I let my friend wax my legs once, she was training to be a beauty therapist at the time, Never again have I let her near my legs it was so painful and I'd had a baby!
I do let her wax my eyebrows though.

Anyway legs I shave them and I use my husbands razor, yes really he lets me. It's an old gillette razor that he got from his grandad. It's in three parts You have to put it together and you put a double edged razor blade in it. It's fantastic, much better than any of those ladyshave ones or whatever it is you get for women nowadays.
I've told him that if we ever get divorced he can have the kids no questions asked but I will fight for custody of the razor and if I lose I'll want visiting rights

ChicPea · 04/09/2004 00:08

Lazer hair removal is fantastic. I have 3 hairs left on my armpit! About 5 on each side of bikini line. It's fantastic.

Branster · 04/09/2004 10:11

Oh MrsDoolittle!! What is that gadget then? Do they have it on the boots site and I'll have a look to see if I've ever used that sort of thing (I'm a sucker for anything that promises speedy hair removal ) Would you enlighten me on this please, i'm very curious now.

Hulababy · 04/09/2004 10:16

MrsDoolittle - I have my eye brows waxed too, once a month. That hurts enough to put me off having more done!

I try and pinch DH's razor -loads better than mine .

Why is that men's razors always work better than woman's? And why are woman's blades so much dearer than the equivalent mens?
