for adults, what is wrong with Ambre solaire? Does it not protect against UVA and UVB?? I put bergaderm on the kids, and ambre solaire on us? Am I missing something?

cover up cover up cover up
stay out of the sun
be covered from head to toe in thick, loose cotton. its the best sunscreen money can buy.

earthtomummy · 24/05/2006 18:31

I'm thinking opf getting Bergaderm for DD who has quite bad eczema. Anybody else found it successful with childrens sensitive skin or have other recommendations??

Furball · 24/05/2006 20:36

jellyjelly - it's sort of true, as I said further down, P20 only protects against UVB and offers no protection at all against UVA which is the one thought to cause skin cancer.

we use ultrasun 20 for us and ultrasun 28 on the kids. its brilliant - the only once a day formula i have known to truly last all day.

since discovering this I don;t use anything else - purely because of the way it goes on. it's not at all gloopy or sticky and I can care to put it on the kids. think you get a variety of spf

thewomanwhothoughtshewasahat · 06/07/2006 15:25

I can bear to put it on the kids as well

prettybird · 06/07/2006 15:50

Another vote for Ultrasun... although the difference is that the factor 28 is for me (memo to self - must go and get some, as we are off to Greece in 10 days time) and the Factor 17 is for dh and ds, who have really olive skins (ds even draws himself and his dad as brown in drawings, and me as pink!).

Alipiggie · 06/07/2006 15:56

Dr Hauschka - completely natural no parabens. sp22. It's great and you can get it in pump spray for the kids. We have to apply everyday here in Colorado because of the height so need the chemical free stuff. I use it everyday too for my face. Earth's Best is another good one. Another easy one to apply but not sure on the chemical free nature, I use it when the boys are swimming is Banana Boat spray which is spf50

This year we've been using Superdrug own brand stuff (kids one). It's alot cheaper than the branded stuff and has worked a treat, even on DD who is very fair and goes pink just by looking at the sun. I'll definately be using it again I think.
