I was cajoled into entering the Race for Life which of course I have no problem with. EXCEPT most of my family havent sponsored me and my dh who was going to put it round his place of work hasnt managed to get permission to do so.

I was just hoping [grin} mumsnetters would give me a hand. Mmmmm I got to thinking if everyone on mnet sponsored just a £1 each it would make a respectable sum to hand over. Pleeeeeeeeeeease

LadySherlockofLGJ · 17/05/2006 22:05

Yes

But you are asking the self same MNers you were slagging off on Monday to now sponsor you on Wednesday ??

I am confused.

supakids · 17/05/2006 22:06

Put yer money where yer mouth is Sherly, surprise me and make my day its only a £1

OP posts:
supakids · 17/05/2006 22:06

Never slagged any mnetters off on Monday.

It's actually £2 - you can't sponsor for any less on that site IIRC - I have sponsored a friend recently.

Not that it matters, all for a good cause.

LadySherlockofLGJ · 17/05/2006 22:16

Sorry, no can do on sponsorship.

In total have sponsored people in excess of £25 this week.(abnormal week)

People who have not slagged me or my friends off.

Your post on Monday, appears below.

Sorry, but was here last year for approx a year and it was much more exciting and had far more useful information from the ladies and gents I really am struggling after not being on here for about 8 months.Threads that get so stupid and threads that really get nasty for no apparent reason (one or two got nasty before but you could normally spot the ember that lit the fire). Not as many threads as before and the threads dont continue for as long as they did before. I can see a handful of original mnetters are still around be interested to know if they agree.

Now a thread posted like this would get attention in seconds flat a year ago, I dont expect it will get noticed for at least two minutes and thats if im lucky.

supakids · 17/05/2006 22:18

An observation Sherly not a personal dig at anyone!

It was backed up with a resounding agreement and that it does have its ups and downs depending on when you are tuned in!

Well people will have to make up their own minds.

I know where my loyalties lie.

supakids · 17/05/2006 22:29

Yes in hijacking a good cause. I will never forgive you if you have killed this fund raising thread. If it were for myself Id give you a hiding!!!

Oh do grow up.

SparklyGothKat · 17/05/2006 22:37

PMSL LGJ!!

LadySherlockofLGJ · 17/05/2006 22:40

In my honest opinion, you can not slag off MN on Monday and ask for s/ship on Wednesday.

That is the long and the short of it.

Why not pressurise your family and your DH's family and if all else fails, resort to the site that has in your opinion, changed so much.

Just really confused.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 17/05/2006 23:08

Looks like you are in for a hiding LGJ Grin

FWIW - i agree with LGJ. Charity begins at home - cajole your family and DH into helping instead of resorting to a bunch of strangers for whom you dont appear to hold much esteem for.

Supakids - since you havent been here for a good 8 months, i feel obliged to fill you in on some facts; starting with the fact that LGJ has done more than enough to help and support other MNers, including a 200 mile round trip to provide help, meals and a shoulder to a needy MNer. That is what I call charity.

I hope you do well in your run. Smile

hunkercaribou · 18/05/2006 11:24

Supakids, if I post to support LGJ, there'll be clique allegations.

No matter.

LGJ is one of the very nicest people you'll ever meet. And I agree with her, it is a bit much to ask for sponsorship on a site you clearly didn't like much at the beginning of the week.

Good luck with it though. I hope your family feel more generous soon.

supakids · 18/05/2006 11:57

Thankyou for the support everyone. I wont use these methods to boast about what I have done and do for the community and like you say charity begins at home. Oh yes there is one I can boast about, A commendation awarded by a judge for saving two soldiers. That is because it was all over the papers anyway, so no secret there. ta ta.

oliveoil · 18/05/2006 12:10

I have sponsored on here already and have 3 at work doing races so I am all sponsored out.

But I do agree with LGJ, it is a bit cheeky tbh.

Esmummy · 18/05/2006 12:43

Spondered Blush Of course i meant sponsored

ComeOVeneer · 18/05/2006 22:36

"you must be so evil to detract away from a good cause with this petty minded intervention"

From my experience "evil" is the most far from accurate word you could use for LGJ.

I realise that what you are asking is for a good cause but I too feel it is a bit of a check to not be around for a fair while, then return and be quite scathing about the quality of postings etc and then expect us to be forthcoming with help.
