Gifts for hospital staff

I've had a good look round MN and can't see where else to post this.
I have just come home from hospital after 5 weeks. I had the most wonderful treatment, the staff were fantastic from consultants to domestics and everyone in between. NHS by the way. I want to say thank you but don't know what is suitable. I know they get lots if chocs, biscuits etc and I need something that can be shared as there's lots if them and they're all there at different times. Any suggestions very welcome.

Fruit baskets are always appreciated I'm my ward we get so much choc sometimes it's nice to have something a bit healthier but choc and biscuits are always a good choice too!

A voucher for a takeaway would go a long way with us! We never say no to sweets and chocolates though...
Some really nice coffee and a percolater would be nice, we never have good cofee

Krispy creme doughnuts go down very well on my ward! Fruit basket if you fancy a healthier option.
A detailed note to both the ward and the chief executive explaining what you appreciated about the staff, will also be well received.

Thanks so much for all the great ideas. I did ask one of the nurses and she said a fruit basket but I wasn't convinced it would be popular but it certainly seems worth considering. Maybe in combo with posh herbal tea bags, hand cream plus chocs and bics!! I will definitely write a detailed letter. The coffee idea is interesting, I don't drink the stuff so I'd have to get DH's input and maybe it's not very "me"! Then there's the take away ........!!! I suppose that would be less likely to get shared fairly. Any more ideas welcome but I'm thinking posh herbal tea and biscuits. And now I'm hungry!

Nice biscuits and maybe a basket type thing with coffee and tea [fruit and otherwise ]. Always lovely to get, used by all and very appreciated .

That sounds good, I just need to recover enough to do it. I can certainly write the letter and see what I can achieve from home, not too hard these days but I want it to look nice.

dsis (2 of 'em), dsil (again 2) and mil are nurses and thay are thrilled with anything they get but particularly appreciate vouchers - asda/tesco/m&s - as they can purchase goodies as and when needed. They get lots of chocs and biccies, they seem also to get a lot of wine (always been my gift to the ward when I have been in) but some of the staff dont drink/eat chocs etc so with vouchers they can buy.....whatever really.
davros you are so lovely for thinking of doing this and you have a fabulous user name.

A fruit basket would be lovely. Nice tea and coffee is always welcome.
We're not allowed communal hand cream.

As others have said, one of the best things you can do is send a letter to the Chief Exec.
