Hoping she's doing ok. DS had jaundice as a tiny baby. I let him lie in the light box, it worked so well, we didn't need anything extra. Those strong lights do work well and quickly. Thinking of you.

You learn something every day - two out of three of mine were jaundiced and I've never heard of a biliblanket. Not seen them in hospitals at all and I spent. 5 weeks in with dd2...

Discuss with consultant if you are concerned.

Hi our twins had this and hated being in the light box (hosp didn't have the blankets). Thrashed and screamed till they were exhausted.

I suspended the light over the hosp bed at the same level as in the box and lay down on the bed with them. Midwives were initially worried but I insisted. Babies were fine with the lights and mask after that.

Also found olive oil around the eye area before the mask went on stopped the soreness.

It's miserable isn't it. Congrats on your lovely newborn though. Hope you're both home soon.

My DTs were under the lamp but had their heads in a perspex box that was orange instead of the mask. They were in two hospitals, the first ones used the masks so I guess it depends on the hospital. I've never seen the biliblanket either and we were in for 7 weeks.

Jaundice due to blood incompatibility can be high.
In my hospital we have biliblankets, but would only use then in addition to overhead lights. They are not as strong as overhead lights.
l know the rash looks bad, but it is common with phototherapy. It will go quickly when treatment ends.
Congratulations on your new baby.
