Thank goodness for online shopping too!

Arb, I'm so glad your inlaws are so helpful.

There were pomegranate seeds in my flatbread which is actually why I chose it.

buildingmycorestrength · 09/04/2013 19:50

I've sort of started eating a whole new way and am over on the paleo thread in Food. It has been a revelation.

But YES YES YES to preprepared food. Let go of the old perfectionist ways and bring on the easy option.

We are disabled. Some more seriously than others, but still.

Would any, I mean ANY of you, say that a disabled person was unreasonable for buying their cheese pre grated when they have arthritic hands? Would you judge an elderly person for getting pre chopped carrots?

No!

Let us rise together,Spoonies, and claim our preprepared food with both gnarled, hurting hands and a heart of gratitude!

Building, has the pale diet helped? I have thought about changing my diet but my rheamatologist said there is no evidence to show that it helps so it's best to eat what I want to eat, within reason. And since I don't really eat meat or fish, I don't know what I'd eat on a pale diet.

Yum, Arb!

I'm with you sister :)

Badvoc · 09/04/2013 19:58

I have tried paleo/briffa and it does help me which is whyia m so cross with myself for eating crap.
It is crap and makes me feel crap.
Today I have had;

Custard creams
Chocolate
Apple
Roll and butter
Digestive biscuits
Oven chips, cod portion and sweetcorn
More chocolate
Fruit tea
Coffee and skim milk
Water

Awful :(

Pre grated cheese is ace.
I am allergic and hate having to even touch the stuff.
Pre chopped onion is pretty cool too.

fuzzpig · 09/04/2013 20:18

I'm not posting my food here by the way I will just have a nosey at everyone else's instead :o I know it is crap but I am not up to challenging it right now.

Have to say though I have started to notice bad reactions to some crap food. Not like allergic reactions but for example I drink fizzy drinks so rarely now and when I do indulge in even a can I get a really sore tummy and retain water ie I can't pee! WTF! So at least it is helping me stay away from some things not chocolate though, I will never ditch that as I genuinely don't want the side effects. I don't know if it's the CFS that is making me more sensitive to it.

buildingmycorestrength · 09/04/2013 20:20

Paleo has not helped fatigue symptoms but it is more satisfying to eat and I'm losing weight. Smile

Am excited about flavour...made a Thai fish stew which was yum.

Think if you don't eat meat or fish it wild be v v hard. You are doing okay with food, Grockle, as it is so hard for you to prepare.

belleshell · 09/04/2013 20:24

belle is a later comer to the singing but joins in

listing food is a fab idea.
today
tons of coffee
2 breakfast biscuits
3 satsumas
yoghurt
cous cous and roast veg
tuna pasta bake
1 oreo (i dont even like them)

hence after reading all of the above i have put 2 stone on in 18 months..

oh and the roast veg was in a tin foil tray all ready preapred as was the cheese on the tuna pasta bake...im all for stuff that saves time and i HATE grating cheese....

Grockle · 09/04/2013 21:38

Badvoc... your food today sounds pretty much like mine but I don't eat the meal, just all the nice stuff Blush I love reading what other people eat. I'm so nosey.

I'm in a rut too. I have joined a cookbook reading group thread to hopefully inspire me to cook again. I ordered frozen berries so that I can stick them on top of a dollop of greek yoghurt & eat it for lunch at work - it's lovely because the berries have defrosted by then but it is all cold & I feel virtuous eating it!

I also need to drink more - I have made a flask up for tomorrow and put an apple & a couple of satsumas. If I eat plenty of fruit & veg and drink enough, it means I have no space for crisps & chocolate. Hopefully.

LLETZ = laser burning pre-cancerous cell changes (and in my case, also early cancerous cells) off your cervix.

Not nice!

CouthySaysEatChoccyEggs · 09/04/2013 23:25

As well as pre prepped food - have any of you got a Tefal chopper? (That sounds wrong, like robot's rudey bits!!)

I got one for Christmas, and it's BRILLIANT.

No more hurting my wrists and fingers with knives while slicing veg / grating cheese / grating stuff for coleslaw.

All you do is shove the veg in the top and lean on a HUGE button.

CouthySaysEatChoccyEggs · 09/04/2013 23:26

Never mind pre chopped onion - FROZEN peppers and onions are the way to go...

CouthySaysEatChoccyEggs · 09/04/2013 23:28

Crap food alert : Today's food...

KFC
Indian flavoured oven chips and spare ribs...

ariane5 · 09/04/2013 23:31

Hello, I am posting here out of sheer desperation Sad

I have EDS hypermobility type and I am absolutely exhausted. The last few days I have barely even managed to eat as lifting food to my mouth is exhausting.

I feel overwhelmed by everything (I have 4 disabled dcs and their needs are so great I cannot cope at all and it is making me ill) I have been on 5 courses anti b since dec (chest inf uti mastitis etc).

Iam so run down and miserable and cannot see a way out. I wake up exhausted and I am at the end of my tether.

Grockle · 10/04/2013 02:48

Welcome Ariane5. I am hypermobile too & it casues various problems. It must be a nightmare for you with 4 children who have such great needs. Do you have any help or support? If you happen to live near me, I'd be happy to help out if I can. I really feel for you but am fortunate that my DS is big enough & able enough to help out a bit.

Yikes, Couthy, that sounds scary & painful. I don't have a chopper but I do gate cheese using the food processor. No bleeding fingers or hurtiness. I love homemade coleslaw. My freezer is full of chopped peppers and diced onion. Best realisation ever!

Brightlydoesit · 10/04/2013 07:04

Lackadaisical I feel I've much in common with you. Diagnosed lupus 17 yrs ago now fibromyalgia last year. Taking plaquenel diclofenac. Terrible fatigue and joint pains especially my tendons at the moment. Archilles in particular. Feeling sooo low at the moment due to relationship breakup and I live alone. Somehow have to start building a social life again and support network as the thought of being alone the rest of my life is scary.

How to achieve this when you have little energy for anything and you struggle just to go work I just don't know

Brightlydoesit · 10/04/2013 07:05

Oh btw have any of you tried acupunture? It has helped me somewhat and I'd recommend giving it a go

ariane5 · 10/04/2013 09:15

I only really have support from dh, sometimes my mum helps but more often than not she is busy with dsis who has a lot of issues.

We are in nw london so not sure if any of you are nearby?!

It has been the last year that has pushed me over the edge, having ds2 and then dd2 getting diabetes has been too much for me to cope with and I cannot manage everything.
Have hurt my neck and back this week and that's making it difficult to do anything.
I'm just so tired every minute of every day

neriberi · 10/04/2013 13:30

Hi ariane5, I'm sorry to hear that your having such a tough time of it at the moment.

Today is my tired day, I even got told by a colleague that I looked awful today, nice. not 100% sure I feel about that Confused

A teaspoon of cinnamon mixed with a teaspoon of honey in a bit hot water is really good natural energy booster btw.

fuzzpig · 10/04/2013 16:53

Hi Ariane, I've seen a couple of your threads. You've got such a lot on your plate. I'm glad you've joined us, we are a lovely bunch if I say so myself :o this group has helped me so much.

Welcome Brightly, sorry about the breakup, it can't be easy on top of everything else. Take things slow WRT social life - I am really desperate to start seeing friends (I've actually made a few new friends lately which is amazing for me) but I know I need to pace myself. It's a fine line between exhaustion and isolation :(
