VRE, nothing to worry about unless he starts to get ill. antibiotic resistant, so now much they can do is there?

Oh no Sad. Hope he's OK.

anorak · 11/05/2006 10:39
Sad

Hope it's all cleared up soon.

tissy · 11/05/2006 10:46

Misdee, sorry to hear this. Given the amount of time he's been in hospital, it's amazing that he hasn't had a hospital infection before now. It's probably not resistant to all antibiotics, just the common ones. Sure he'll be fine Smile

chapsmum · 11/05/2006 10:57

CAn it not be treated with scrubbing and gentomycin misdee?
where is it?

chapsmum · 11/05/2006 11:04

Tis not good news anyway, sorry to hearSad
hope if is in a benign place and he doesnt get sick from it.
The sooner he is out of that place the better.
(((((((((hug ))))))))))) Misdee

nit tooo sure. he has to do lots of samples. its not causing a problem atm. let hope it stays tat way.

Fingers and everything else crossed that it stays that way misdee.

VRE is still pretty uncommon, but when it does show up it tends to be transplant & renal units and ICU departments.

Another reason why people shouldn't be so damned quick to ask for antibiotics when they have a minor illness.

macwoozy · 11/05/2006 11:29

Hope it doesn't hang around for too long. Is Peter allowed a visit home again soon?

misdee · 11/05/2006 12:06

he should be coming hoem agin soon. i am doing controlled crying with dd3 atm, so am unfit to drive today to see him.

OP posts:
Marina · 11/05/2006 12:11

:( Do hope he makes a full recovery from that bug, misdee, and dd3 throws in the towel on the shouty front soon.

misdee · 11/05/2006 12:13

he should be fine (fingers crossed). he has been on antibiotics for months as he was getting infectrions all the time.
