Question re Pneumovax for over two's

My DS has received the 2 Prevenar vaccines before his 2nd birthday. Now he is 2, does he need to have the Pneumovax also or he should now be imune from the Prevenar ? My GP does not seem to know.
By the way, he is not in the high risk group. He had it at my request.

He will need the Pneumovax jab now that he is 2. This should offer life long coverage. I guess I should also start looking into it as my ds (high risk) is almost 2 now.

You should be able to get it from your GP if they're in a high risk catergory - asthma, heart etc.

I know that Prevenar is the vaccination for Pneumococcal meningitis that is being given to under two's. What is Pneumovax ??

Lolski, pnuemovax is the similar to prevenar in that it gives coverage for pnuemonococcal meningitis amongst other things, but it covers against 23 strains as opposed to 7. It is only available to the over 2's and should offer life long coverage.
