I hated them Sometimes Used to sit there paralysed with the needle hovering over my fat thigh (actually by the end of the chemo it was a very thin thigh). Perhaps I should have gone to the loos at Euston to do them, it would have forced me into taking the plunge.....

Healthy snacks for trolley, tuna with mango salsa anyone? as I am having very healthy evening so that get good results for blood test tomorrow because one night is going to undo all the damage I do the rest of the time

MaryAnnSingleton · 18/04/2013 21:10

hooray for sparkle's safe arrival in Canada, but bah about infection..
I have had some cider to celebrate gig's being safely through her lego-ing - shame about the drugs though.
Have been asked to do another joke book - yay ! slightly panicking as I usually do before any job.
Bed soon as hospital is v early tomorrow xxx

Waving madly at Sometimes. How lovely to see you. Smile

And so good to hear you're safely home in Canada, Sparkle. Hope your new team are fantastic. I'm sure they will be. Hope too that the DC are okay now you're there.

MAS, yay for you on joke book. Good luck at hospital tomorrow. Is it just a routine visit? x

Better get back to my brother. Night all and huge hugs to Gigs. xx

Sometimesiwonder · 18/04/2013 22:36

Waving madly back at smee! Has been ages!

Oh I'm glad you asked that smee, was scrolling around wildly to find info.

Dd got a letter from Defra today. She wrote to them to ask for an explanation of government policy on saving the polar bears. She's 9. Grin apparently they are doing their best but the Canadians don't want to know (with apologies to sparkle) Grin

Copthallresident · 18/04/2013 22:48

Sometimes The chemo diet succeeded where years of gym membership had failed and I went from 10 and a half to 8 and a half stone, and I was am 5'7" - not a good look, ended up not just looking like a lesbian but a lesbian anorexic Shock. Now I really need to get back to the gym ............

KurriKurri · 18/04/2013 22:58

I'm back - Calendar Girls was v.good, - strange incident in the interval when a woman I have never seen in my life rushed up kissed me and said 'How are you?' - one of us has obviously completely lost her marbles! (I just said 'fine thanks' and edged away Grin )

So while I was gone - MrGigs has done sterling work on the updates - sleep tight Gigs xx
MAS has become an international superstar illustrator of joke books - well done you talented old thing SmileSmile
Good luck at hosp, tomorrow.

Sometimes lovely to see you my darling, - that girl of yours will go far, letters to Defra? - whatever next - what a fab kid she is Grin

Sparkle - so glad you have safely touched down in Canada, - sorry to hear about infection, they are a pain? - did you get given the magic jabs?, they do help. (I used to stick mine in my stomach - such a thick layer of fat I felt nothing!)

I see amber is dancing on the table nothing new there then Grin And topsy is cracking open the wine ditto Grin

Have fun seeing your brother Smee, waving madly to all xx

MaryAnnSingleton · 18/04/2013 22:59

They did give me magic injections in the hospital. I got a little overenthusiastic for the first solo one - worked myself up into really giving it only to have it bounce right back out. Luckily I too have prepared for chemo with a pile of stomach chub. I won't mind if that goes, but who knows so far.

One thing I haven't worked out so far - my counts in hospital were 0.04, 0.1, 0.5, then 2.2 (yay magic injections!) but they'd gone back down to 1.6 the next week pre chemo. I thought they'd keep going up, especially as I'd had 2 more shots. Very odd.

Yay for second book MAS! Wonderful to have something to celebrate.

I'll tell my government to protect the polar bears but I have a feeling they won't take my advice on it. Good luck to the little. :)

coorong · 19/04/2013 07:44

mas not being on Facebook could you link to your joke book please - I think I've found it but not entirely sure. Good luck with your appointment today.
sparkle glad to hear you've arrived safely, but the treatments and pain don't sound good - hopefully you'll get a lovely team around to look after you

MrGigs · 19/04/2013 09:08

Am with Gigs at mo, she's dictating a message for you...
'Feel fine but a bit croaky but have got drugs on tap. Looking forward to getting out from intensive care later today. Thank you for all your kind messages'

AshokanFarewell · 19/04/2013 09:08

Good morning!

I hope everyone isn't too hungover after last night's celebrations Grin

KK that woman is probably mortified this morning! Although I saw a programme about Clare from Steps and she had to do something similar, pretending she knew people in the street Confused

sparkle glad to hear you're settling in back home, it must be such a relief. I hope all your appointments go well! :)

Very gentle hugs to gigs, I hope you slept well.

AshokanFarewell · 19/04/2013 09:10

Oops cross posted again, good news about the drugs and fab that gigs is feeling well enough to dictate messages! Fingers crossed she's out of ICU soon. Thanks for the update MrGigs

topsyturner · 19/04/2013 09:12

Thanks for the update MrGigs
Can you ask the butler to chuck a couple of blankets out on the balcony ?
It's getting chilly out here ...

Morning All
DH off work today , and he wants to go to a garden centre .
Sigh ...

MrGigs · 19/04/2013 09:26

Gigs says she'll fling you a few drugs for your garden centre trip, and admits that, on reflection, she'd rather be here.

MrGigs slides open glass door and hands over itchy blankets...

topsyturner · 19/04/2013 09:28

I knew I liked her !

smee · 19/04/2013 09:44

You're v.generous with the posh drugs, MrG Grin

What time will Gigs emerge from intensive care? Hope soon and that you're okay. Very stressful to be the one who waits.

Sometimes, so love your DD!! I hope she's now writing to the Government of Canada to tell them to do better. Polar Bears will be wearing a t-shirt with a pic of her on next. Grin

MAS, hope the appt goes okay today and involves coffee and treats after. Smile

We are twins, Copt as both have same name and are both 5'7". I did the chemo shrink thing too. Went down to under 8 stone. Looked like I'd escaped from a camp or something. Very definitely not a good look..

Sparkle, I think the dip's just due to the boost from the injections wearing off, so they sort of get you through the worst, then your body finds a level. I had a reduction in dose too, so if that's what they suggest it's v.common.

I bet that woman's cringing, Kurri. She probably realised as soon as you sidled off. When are you having your blood tests? Hope soon so they can sort your thyroid. Am sure that's all it is. x

Just wondering how Posh has got on. She had her appointment for scan results sometime this week. Hope you're okay, Posh. Come back when you can. x

Waving to Ash, Amber, Topsy, HND, Gracie, Jane and anyone else I've missed. Feeling a bit shoddy this morning, as late night and one too many glasses of red. Coffee for all who want some. Smile

amberlight · 19/04/2013 10:02

Smee, shame on you!

Gigs, brew for you and MrGigs? Coming over... Brew

Morning all....

KurriKurri · 19/04/2013 11:56

Hugs to Gigs this morning (careful post op ones), hope you will be out of ICU soon sweetheart (where I am guessing they take your temp BP etc etc every five minutes until you are even more exhausted!) Thanks for the updates MrG,

had my blood test done this morning at the hospital (GP said don't bother trying to get an appointment at the surgery, as there will be none for weeks Hmm) had to wait ages as they had several babies and little children in for tests, - poor little things, it was quite distressing hearing all the crying (they don't close the door in our phlebotomy dept.)

Asho - perhaps the woman was Clare from steps and I didn't recognise her Grin - she probably is mortified, on hear and as we speak starting a thread called 'I mistook an odd little woman for someone I knew last night....'

Talking of which can all you freakishly tall people who are 5'7" stop boasting - some of us are short arses more vertically challenged.

Sparkle - I don't know about the blood counts - these things are a bit of a mystery to me, maybe the chemo is still killing cells off, and after the magic jabs stop they drop again? (wild guess) - my brain can't cope with time differences, are you behind us in Canada - so it is night there now?
Oh actually if it's night, you'll be asleep anyway - so just ignore me Grin

Also hoping Posh got on OK, - come back and let us know how you are posh Smile

waving madly to all (amber I think you'll need the French Polishers in after last nights shenanigans Grin)

KurriKurri · 19/04/2013 11:57

on hear? - on here
