gig - good morning- am keeping you company and won't tempt you with any posh snacks...Grin @ mini's outrage !
I have never been to a Westfield - should I feel deprived ?
Once when we walked to the crem steps one of our dogs was savaged by a gypsy dog (they were camping on the bit just before the steps) it was quite awful, had to take the poor boy home with a huge hole in his side Sad - he was fine but it was very unnerving.

topsyturner · 18/04/2013 08:33

I shall "nil by mouth" with you Gigs

What place are you on the list ?
please don't let it be last

Gigondas · 18/04/2013 08:49

Am not down til midday so am allowed water for a bit. Dh here scoffing and drinking for you.

topsyturner · 18/04/2013 08:56

Phew .
I think I can manage till midday .
I can still have coffee can't I ?

Copthallresident · 18/04/2013 08:59

The west Westfields is actually very Hong Kongy, not least because it has a Vietnamese restaurant Smile as well as being all in one place above easy car parking and other worldly and antiseptic and full of empty designer shops (am told they have back rooms packed with ladies able to get rid of their burkhas and spend squillions) so the female Copts like it. However DH did go up for Xmas shopping and came home very soon after fraught and disillusioned, so maybe it needs a bit of imagination. We will leave discussion of Vietnamese fresh spring rolls Smile until after nil by mouth though now doing a kit at Waitrose and apparently mentioned by Pippa in her new column for Waitrose magazine, so doesn't get posher than that for the balcony. Really really bemused by Pippa phenomenon, looks a bit rough to me, and sounds a bit dim.......

Are they starting before dawn? so third on list could be soon. I hope they don't keep you waiting. There will be a bunch of reprobates on the balcony stuffing their faces and stealing any good drugs when you get back Smile

smee · 18/04/2013 09:13

slinking in for Copt's posh M&S snacks..

Gig, glad DH is there with you. Huge amounts of love and luck from me too. The bionic you will be unstoppable. Smile

Westfield's horrid - the Stratford one's not too far for us and has a lego shop, so DS loves it. I hate it. Would rather go to West End.

Got to run to a meeting, so might not be around until later. Will be thinking of you all day though, Gigs. Topsy's advice is best. Take all drugs! Grin

AshokanFarewell · 18/04/2013 09:17

Good morning all! Good luck today gigs Flowers I will be thinking of you lots. And the poor badger that you are holding hostage! Grin all the posh food sounds very tempting so I shall squish onto the balcony too and join topsy in pigging out once you're asleep!

coorong noooooo! Don't go in Iceland if you've managed to avoid it so far. My sister worked in our local one as her Saturday job before uni and there was a fight nearly every week! Plus some of the "food" is incredibly disturbing. I was disappointed to find that they don't sell branded cheese singles :(

I saw Dr W yesterday and he was very receptive to my ideas so I now have an "off label" prescription for ondansetron to try and slow my bowel down. Should kick the pouch into line finally. He still refused to accept there was a difference between having an internal pouch and a stoma Confused even thought it makes quite a difference to my side effects! He said I shouldn't take any antioxidant supplements while I'm having the chemo, so no turmeric, as the drugs work by oxidising the cells so the supplements would make them less effective. But I can take vitamin D and anything else similar as long as I stick to the recommended daily allowances :)

copt how awful about the airport security. It sounds like you managed to laugh it off with DDs afterwards but it's such a sensitive issue they really ought to be aware and sensitive! An angry letter may be in order!

I finished my sister's hat yesterday, just need to sew it up, so now deciding what to knit next! Grin

I've just seen a thread in health with someone who is worried they have bowel cancer and I'm not sure whether to post or not. Don't want to worry them further but equally I know a fair bit about it all so might be able to help

HerNextDoorAt21 · 18/04/2013 09:26

AWOL HND here. Good luck for today gigs our bionic friend ..... Will be thinking about you x

HerNextDoorAt21 · 18/04/2013 09:53

Ash and coorong ..... Our secretary once saw a 'lady' pouring herself a vodka INTO A GLASS as she walked round the local Iceland .... Beware !

coorong · 18/04/2013 10:47

do you think Iceland sells Pimms???Grin

but I thought that mums shop there?

MaryAnnSingleton · 18/04/2013 10:47

glad visit to Dr W was ok ashokan
Waves to everyone - am off for my blood test followed by compulsory Waitrose free coffee - have refused to look in the Pippa fronted magazine though- she looks a bit, well, grubby I think - and as for Iceland (crosses self) would only go in there for barrels of cheeselets and Babycham.
Something for you on fb gig Grin

KurriKurri · 18/04/2013 11:41

Good luck today Gigs xx Grin at badger, he will definitely need a few stitches to prove he needed to be there!

I'm glad the appointment with Dr W went well Asho - and that he is listening to you a bit better. Well done on finishing the hat, am sure your sis will love it.

I am waiting for Dr to phone other people keep phoning and I am having to chivvy them off the line in case I miss him, but I bet he won't phone until the last possible second anyway.

I am going to my art group this afternoon and then to a local production of Calendar Girls with a friend tonight, so won't be around to give Gigs a gentle post op. ((hug)), - one of you will have to do it for me Grin

DH bought a box of Indian snacks in Iceland just before Christmas - we are still eating them now - there must have been at least 100 1000 in the box Grin Don't know if they Pimms, - you'll probably be able to pick up a few cans of Special though coorong Grin

MaryAnnSingleton · 18/04/2013 11:59

Grin @ vodka shopping trolley !

I'm going to a Pampered Chef thing tomorrow (next door neighbour's) - will I have to buy anything do you think ?
Hope art group is jolly and Calendar Girls kk -oh and that Dr rings soon.

KurriKurri · 18/04/2013 12:11

Dr has just phoned - I told him my symptoms, and he said 'hmm' I think we'd better have a full liver function test too. So now I am freaking out Sad - do they always do that? - I know they do on my oncy blood tests. but he obviously didn't seem convinced it sounded like thyroid. Aaargh. Someone sit on the paranoia box please.

MaryAnnSingleton · 18/04/2013 12:17

am on the box kk but am sure he is just being thorough and checking everything- try not to worry...(hands kk some brownies to soothe)

OP posts:
KurriKurri · 18/04/2013 12:20

Smile - thanks MAS, I'm sure you are right. And it is most likely to be thyroid probs making me feel bad. Any mention of livers just panics me.

Copthallresident · 18/04/2013 12:38

agh, was I spotted in Iceland, just popped in for some ice Blush

KK I'm sure he is doing full works as belt and braces, I'm having a blood test tomorrow too so lets hold hands for the results

amberlight · 18/04/2013 13:11

Livers aren't the problem they used to be. Lots of new stuff for livers.

MAS, yes. Good stuff though and you get freebies for hosting.

graciesmall09 · 18/04/2013 13:38

Shift over amber and I shall park my large posterior beside amber for you Kurri. I'm sure it will be fine just dr being uber careful.

More hugs to gigs hope you have already gone down and well on your way to bionicifation.

Oh while I remember statsqueenamber thoughts on 'baby' aspirin? I was sent a link the other day on taking baby aspirin to help prevent recurrences have you seen any good articles?

Waves to everyone. I assume topsy is now raiding the fridge if gigs has gone to theatre Smile

topsyturner · 18/04/2013 14:29

smee · 18/04/2013 15:10

Hefting my way on for you too, Kurri, but honestly I think Topsy's got a point. GP's are worse than us and will always over-test.

Any news from Gig? Should think she's in surgery, or hopefully out of it by now and spaced on lovely drugs.

Just raced back from a meeting and can't read all as have to walk a mile and a half each way to take boys swimming. Big sexy mac (not!) being dug out pronto.. Grin

topsyturner · 18/04/2013 15:58

Does anyone think it would be ok if I PM Mr Gigs on Facebook and ask him to let us know when she is out of surgery ?
I don't want to overstep , but I think we will worry if we don't hear anything ?
