At lunchtime today i was at ds2's school for a meeting, standing chatting towards the end, when i suddenly got terrible pains in both feet, running down the outside of each foot and up towards my ankles. Initially i thought it was cramp, but 6 hours later i can barely weight bear and the pain has me in tears. I had to get a friend to drop me to get teh kids and blag a lift back home, dd1 is having to cook dinner because i just tried to walk and ended up crying because it hurt so much to take even half a dozen steps.

Any ideas?

probably not much, but better than flip flops!

Jimjamskeepingoffvaxthreads · 10/05/2006 09:50

DM's lou- some of the new style shoes are quite supportive (the old style boots - forget it they'll cripple you)

meowmix · 10/05/2006 09:56

might it be the driving Lou? just thinking about it you don't flex your feet like that for much else (that I can think of) so maybe its just a reaction to you doing lots of clutch control?

lou33 · 10/05/2006 12:03

no i am learning in an automatic

well i filled myself up with painkillers and a glass f wine last night, and i was able to walk without it hurting but 2.30 a, but this morning as soon as i got up the pain was there again, so ihad to make all sorts of silly arrangements to get the kids to and from school, and cancel my driving lesson

fifty quid down the drain Angry

dont say that!

i cant im sorry, i will just have to get drunk so i dont feel any pain, sounds a better option

actually atm the pain is less than it was this time yesterday, so maybe it's just a short term thing

i do not want to go down the sturdy shoe path

well i just got back from the gp and he is flummoxed

he said after prodding and pushing and moving my feet and watching me whimper and yelp, that my symptoms are presenting exactly like i have broken bones in my feet, the metatarsals, but he says its impossible to have done that without some great trauma.

regardless of if i have or not, the treatement is the same, take the painkillers , rest etc, tho he knows i have to walk so he said it will take longer for the pain to go

he said at least a week before i will get some improvement

Sad

i'm buggered really for help with the kids

can you take anti inflammatories?

JanH · 10/05/2006 18:26

Sorry to hear you're still suffering, lou. I was wondering if some kind of support bandages under the biker boots might help if you won't wear trainers?

belleofball · 10/05/2006 18:32

lou33. Might sound silly(but what doesn't in this postGrin)
you mentioned driving lessons, could they have anything to do with it? Have you been taking them long?

lou33 · 10/05/2006 18:39

i'm not even clicking that link!

he was helpful, he was concerned as well, but i have to treat them as tho they were broken

i have got diclofenic and codeine to take, and when i am dosed up i feel great, but walking is still painful, especially in the left foot

i have only had 3 lessons over hte last 6 weeks because i have been sick, so had to keep cancelling

OP posts:
mawbroon · 10/05/2006 19:39

Could it be stress fractures from all the walking you do? I don't know much about them, but you always hear about runners having them. Just a thought
