DD 3.5 tripped over a box this afternoon, since cannot bear weight on left foot, says it hurts underneath her foot in the arch
Thought well she's not in pain and is limping but getting around, I'll leave her til the morning, if still limping then see Doc.
Go to pick up DS (12) from school
He has only most likely broken his ring finger, sitting at very odd angle and has white bit like bone just under skin on top joint, cannot move any of the finger
Teacher just told him to carry on after he did it.
It's his exam week, he's left handed...
Jaysus
Well guess where I'm off to at dinner time/rush hour...
Both kids are in good humour... praying for no queue at A+E...
I'll report back later

ssd · 09/05/2006 18:09

hope you don't have a long wait!

singersgirl · 09/05/2006 18:26

Hope they are OK and the wait is not too bad - it can take ages when they X-ray. Had to take DS2 on Sunday night because of a bad fall on face/bruising round eyes, and we were there 4 hours!

Twiglett · 09/05/2006 18:28

oh Piffle

but then again thank god its just one visit eh .. that's kind of like getting things wholesale isn't it? Grin

spidermama · 09/05/2006 18:29

Oh Piffle I hope it's not too busy. At least you're getting them both seen to in one trip eh?

It could have been worse. Two trips over two days.

I hate A&E. Thinking of you. The finger thing sounds painful.

brimfull · 09/05/2006 18:45

nightmare, hope the wait's not too long.

Piffle · 09/05/2006 20:42

Back!
Well we were seen darn quickly, they saw them both at the same time
DD 1st metatarsal bust. But they do nothing for it at ehr age as her arch supports her yung little bones perfectly, there is bruising but she is putting weight on and limping but is very happy considering!
DS worse news :(
Mallet finger, he has severed/torn the tendon of his top ring finger joint, splinted for EIGHT weeks, in which he will struggle to write.
Real bugger as he broke his left arm/shoulder last September and lost loads of school work.
Hopefully this time he'll be able to get as far as poss with a straight ring finger
He is in a lot of pain as it had to be forced to straighten and he nearly passed out bless him.
He has tons of girls all rining for him so he's picking up :)
they even offered to carry his bag for him tomorrow!!!!

Oh your poor kids!

Recently ds' teacher has one of her children hit by a car when he was on his bike (he was okay thankgoodlness) then later the same day her other son broke his arm. So it isn't just you!

brimfull · 09/05/2006 23:45

gosh piffle your poor children. You deserve a glass of something tonight girl!

mygirllolipop · 10/05/2006 12:01

Piffle, hope kids get well soon.
I had a similar thing a couple of weeks ago. DD3 tipped her pushchair over and bust her lip, blood everywhere didn't know where it was coming from (well other than both nostrils and mouth). then a couple of days later after only a couple of days at school, DD2 was sent home vomitting in class, fever, and nasty pus in her knee. DD3 healed nicely and DD2 recovered with antibiotics and more time off school. Just waiting to see what happens to DD1...........

Once again tho, hope the little mite's get better soon.

spidermama · 10/05/2006 12:17

Oh Piffle! You're dd and Wayne Rooney then. I hope she gets better quickly.

So sorry about your ds. Ouch! My brother was like this, in and out of A&E with all sorts of nasty injuries, splints and bandages. All the best to him. x

maltesers · 10/05/2006 12:22

Thought i was jinksed like you when kids (15 and 18yrs) were younger and took them to Casualty bout ten times in all for cut heads, fingers, couldnt walk, then youngest ds who is now 5 yrs was in hopital and GOSH for major surgery.

singersgirl · 10/05/2006 12:23

Hope your DD feels better soon and that your DS doesn't find things too tough with a cast.
