Blowing my nose, coming out through my eye....

I have a cold, nothing terrible, but very sneezy/running nose/blocked ears. Annoying rather than particularly debilitating.

However, when I blow my nose/try to clear my ears, the pressure and air seems to be blowing out of the inner corner of my left eye. It is very weird and quite uncomfortable. I know all this ear/nose/throat stuff and the tubes are connected, but I am not sure I have ever had this before, affecting my eye like this.

Is this normal? Makes me reluctant to blow my nose which I desperately need to about every five minutes today!

Ta for any tips/experience of this.

Mine does this but only in the right eye and only when I have a bad cold. I had convinced myself its a good thing Confused It probably something to do with blocked sinus elsewhere though.

Oh! I get this too. Never heard of anyone else before.

It's called the lacrimal duct. Where tears come from. It's all connected.

This always happens to me when I get a heavy cold. It sort of freezes my eye.

The last cold I had, I heard a screeching sound in my ears and they popped every time I blew my nose.

I figured they were all connected, somehow, but not sure I've ever blown out through my eye before! It is most uncomfortable and makes me hesitant to have a good old blow!

At least it's not just me (sorry, that's not very sympathetic is it?!)

I don't know if it would help to put pressure over the tiny drain point in the corner of your eye when you gently blow your nose? When putting drops in my sons eye I had to gently close off the punctum/ drainage hole to stop the drops running into the nose, so the same manoeuvre might work to stop air going up from the nose. Goodness knows how you could do this whilst still holding a hanky, but guess it could be done!
