Period but no period (Mirena)

I haven't had a period since 2008 because of 2 pregnancies and extended breast feeding. After dd2 I had the Mirena put in and then bf'd for a year, weaning this time last year and haven't had a period since. The occasional bit of halfhearted spotting, but nothing even needing a pantyliner, never mind anything you'd call bleeding.

The last two weeks though, I've been a hormonal mess - like something out of a sitcom. Weepy, gloomy, happy, cranky, cleaning, eating ice cream and crisps like they're going out of fashion, bloated, even the premenstrual slight head cold I always used to get. I've been a walking stereotype of pms.

This morning I was woken up at 5am with horrible period cramps, stretching down my legs (normal for me, back in the day). So hurray! Something at last!

Except there's no period. Nothing. Not even a hint of spotting.

I feel like posting this in AIBU because am I being unreasonable to expect a period after all this fanfare?

Does anyone else with a Mirena have phantom periods?

Didn't want to leave this unanswered, but I used to get all sorts of side effects with mirena (have copper coil now), and I found some info on their own website. They list side effects, etc there, but I reckon they minimise the effects. Their website might have the info you need.

Sounds like my experience. I get pains backache rectal cramping (nice) and yet hardly any bleeding.
