Bleurghhh! I'm not well at all and have an exam on Wednesday. Will the dr give me a note?

Dd had what I assume was hand foot and mouth last week, she had ulcers under her tongue and spots on her palms and legs. However she seemed well in herself, so my mum had her for me and kept her at home.

I started to feel rough on Thursday, cold symptoms basically. I had to go into uni as I had several assessments on Thursday and Friday that I think I just about managed to do ok in despite feeling rough. However, last night after a hellish day, I started vomiting after I got home and have basically not stopped since. Feel really ill, can barely stand up. Still feel achey and feverish.

I have an exam on Wednesday, the main important one, 3 hr job, and I really won't even be able to make it to the hall, let alone through the 3 hrs if I'm still like this.

I plan to call the dr on Monday although I am sure they won't want me in the surgery if I have a bug or some weird variant of Han foot and mouth! But do you think they might do me a note to cover my exam? Even without physically seeing me? Will they charge? (Am broke)

I am not sure whether this is bad enough to count as extenuating circumstances, it is hardly life and death, but it feels like it, and I am not physically up to it! Just tried to study but literally have to keep getting up to be sick, I only feel semi ok if I am lying still with my eyes closed, typing this is giving me a headache! I am just really stressing about this in my feverish delirious state and just can't relax for worrying. Never mind that I have 2 assignments to hand in in 2 weeks and this is eating into my time in getting those done too.HmmHmm

Ah, you poor thing.

I think they probably would give you a note, you could probably pick one up after the exam, I'm sure I've done that before. Just make sure you let the university know what's going on and keep them up to date.

I've never been charged for a doctor's note, but I know some do.

Thanks. Only had to miss something once, and that was after an operation that went wrong last year. They were good about it then, but it was a bit more clear cut iykwim?

This is a more " minor" illness but is still pretty incapacitating, as I'm pretty much incapable of doing anything right now!

Really annoying as I hate taking time off and prefer to keep going if I can, managed that Thursday/Friday, but now the sickness has kicked in I'm pretty much useless!
