Our friends recently found out they were expecting a baby. Unfortunately however during the routine blood test she has found out she has leukeamia. Things don't look good for the pregnancy, she is not expected to live long enough for the pregnancy to become viable without treatment that would undoubtably effect the baby. Things are still uncertain at the moment as they think it may be quite advanced leukeamia but even so it has reminded me once again about the bone marrow register.

I know loads of people on mumsnet wont be eligible to join (I'm not) but here's hoping you can get some dh's signing up.

My friend's daughter has had leukaemia twice now. She's in remission again but if it comes back the only hope will be a bone marrow transplant. She's 9 now and has been fighting this since she was a 2 year old.

I posted links to Anthony Nolan, Blood Donors and the Transplant Register recently and we managed to keep the thread bumped for quite some time.

I am a signed up member having gone thru several stages of testing over the years for different people.

A very worthwhile list to be on and keep updated.

Went on the site and realised I am not eligible to get on the register, being pregnant and under the weight limit and all. Shucks

But I will get my husband to sign up. He is not-so-young but clearly over the weight limit. He also loves to give blood and is of mixed ethnicity.
