Hi, already posted in January regarding dh's testicular cancer, and now bringing things up to date.
All the cancer was taken out, no spreadage, YAY
,dh referred to oncologist as follow up.
The oncologist explained that dh could either have a single dose of chemo (carboplatin), where the relapse rate would only be 5%, or he could go on a trial where he could keep going back for tests scans etc, but the relapse rate would be higher, 20%, as the cancer could return in between visits.
Dh chose the single dose carboplatin as he just wants to get on with life. He is going in on the 15th March to have it administered by drip.
We are aware there will be side effects, as explained by the oncologist, but how long do they last? The oncologist advises us that dh needs around 2 weeks off work afterwards, so is that about how long the side effects last, or longer? Any advice is appreciated, only just so he has an idea about when to get back to some normality. Not impatient, is he! LOL.
Many thanks in advance
