Are people getting it really badly this spring or is it just me?

no me too, and dd, we have been snotting all over dh this weekend, gotta get some sprays soon!

MrsBigD · 02/05/2006 14:37

not just you. Me me me and quite a few others I know.

For me it's those trees that have those lovely yellow 'carpets' underneath. Can't think of the name right now :)

Willows and birch are apparently the culprits for spring. I am taking different anti histimines but none are helping much at all.

Think i will try the sprays and eyedrops

I've started with sneezing and runny nose over last couple of days. Was not sure whether it was hayfever (I don't generally start suffering until around June time) or a cold!

nightowl · 03/05/2006 00:23

My DH suffers quite badly but he really gave me a scare this weekend. It became obvious his hay fever had morphed into something else, he was up coughing all night and couldn't walk down the road without getting out of breath. Normally he's very fit, trains a lot, has never had any breathing difficulties, etc.

By Monday I was sure he had pneumonia, I took him to A & E with chest pains and shortness of breath. Within 5 minutes he had had an ECG (clear) then underwent blood tests, breathing tests, etc. Soon they established that the oxygen in his blood was very low, he had to lie with an oxygen mask on for a few hours, had two lots of nebulizer. They were arranging a bed in a ward for him then they sent him for a chest X-ray. Thankfully the X-ray came back clear and they pronounced him pneumonia free and allowed him to go home. He has been prescribed two inhalers and a course of steroids and is feeling much better now.

Our village is surrounded by rape seed crops which are flowering now and we strongly suspect this has something to do with the problems.

I think you can give little ones piriton syrup. They will tell you in the pharmacy how much etc.
