Blood blister on neck burst and won't stop bleeding

DD has had a blood blister on her neck for a while that we have been covering with a plaster so her shirt doesn't rub on it.

Tonight it has gone pop and we can't get it to stop bleeding, it oozes thick dark blood.

Will it eventually stop this evening for me to take her to the doctors in the morning?

Any special tricks to get it to stop?

I'm doing the pressure with clean dry cloth etc

i should give nhs direct a ring or out of hours doctor it may need stitching keep the pressure on it and keep her sitting up so that it stays above her heart
if the blood soaks through the cloth put another on top of it do not replace with another as it may disturb the clot that should form if it soaks through again then get to hosp and let them sort it for you

Keep pressing for a minimum of 10 minutes. Don't be tempted to release the pressure until 10 minutes is up as it cold take that long for a clot to form. Every time you have a peep to see if its stopped any half formed clot is washed away and you start again. So try for ten minutes and see what happens.

If not stopped ring Nhs direct.

Thanks, we managed to stop the flow after about an hour and went to the doctors this morning, he used a long stick and some sulphate (I think) and hopefully it will scab over and drop off.

What a drama!
