What's wrong with my finger and how can I make it better

I've had a funny lump of hard skin on one of my fingers for years. It's not a callus, its on the top of the finger over the first knuckle. It feels very superficial.

Lump is about the size of a 5p piece and slightly raised.

Occasionally the skin gets really, really dry and like now is quite painful.....has a constant burning sensation.

I don't suck it.

Don't think it's chilblains as its been there for years including in summer.....chilblains normally come and go I think.

It's not red so I don't think it's gout. The joint itself isn't swollen. It's just this odd lump of skin.

Wart crossed my mind.

It's fairly flat though......I've never had a wart before but I remember a boy at school who had really nasty ones which were huge lumps and its not like that.

I was going to say maybe a wart too. Maybe show a pharmacist & see if there is any OTC you could use.

My brother and ex partner had one of these my ex partner BURNT his off! Wouldn't recommend that. My brother got his off a ring he used to constantly wear for years his eventually went. But he had his since he was 15-16 he is now 32

Bartolian cyst? I think they're harmless and doc/hospital can remove it for you.

Sounds just like a carbuncle. See your GP and they'll remove it.
