Can slapped cheek be passed to an adult minus the rash?

Hi,

My DH has been ill in bed for 5 days now. Complaints are chills, muscle pain, really severe headache, extreme tiredness and over the last few days dizzy and sicky feeling. He is still eating very small amounts (like a bowl of cereal) once a day but not much more.

My son had slapped cheek about 2-3 weeks ago and my question is although my husband does not have a rash could it be that he has caught slapped cheek? Maybe it is just flu? Help! When can I expect him out of bed!!

Thanks in advance for any info
