So I've been referred (privately) for my allopecia

What happens now? Doc finally happy to refer me to some one when I asked to be sent private

What happens now? They said they will send off referal, but couldn't tell me much else?

I have scaring allopecia (I'm 25 and have lost a 3rd of my hair)

Have you asked your private health insurer what the procedure is? I think it varies between providers, but you'll probably need to ring them to get pre-approval for any treatment and to check which consultants are on their approved list.

Ah, I see - in that case I don't know I'm afraid!

Did the GP say which consultant he's referring you to? Then you could just try ringing his or her secretary and ask about an appointment.
